By dr. Janete Silva Moreira

Webinar 1: January 23, 4.30pm-6.00pm
-
dr. Silva Moreira shares the DASP-method, a method helping preschool teachers recognize young students' SRL skills. Questions that will be addressed:
-
How can you assess young kids' SRL skills in the authentic classroom setting?
-
What kind of questions can you ask young students to measure and stimulate their SRL skills?
-
What can you integrate into your own classroom?
-

Webinar 2: February 6, 4.30pm-6.00pm
-
dr. Silva Moreira presents the intervention she designed to support preschool teachers and their students in integrating SRL skills into daily practice.
-
You'll learn all about the story 'Pipo and Mia - the magic knights' written specifically to help explain SRL to young kids.
-
You'll see the classroom activities that can be organized alongside the Pipo and Mia story so kids learn how to apply the SRL strategies from the story to their daily classroom activities.
-
You'll get to know the dos and don'ts when putting together a similar intervention in your own classroom.
-

For a long time, many thought self-regulation skills were impossible for young kids. Pre-school teachers knew that wasn't true. Researchers nowadays know better too!

Pre-school children can (and do) use self-regulation skills to reach learning goals. Research recommends to start supporting SRL from a young age. With just a bit more information about what SRL looks like in toddlers and how to support it in a way that fits beautifully within a natural pre-school classroom, teachers can make a long-lasting impact on their students' (self-regulated) learning.
Great! Now, where to start?
